Educational Efforts

At present, eight students are being supported by generous contributions from individuals and groups in the USA. Individuals and groups sponsor a child at a rate of $25/month ($300 per year). Where does the $25/month go?

Direct assistance fund ($22):

Financial support to child and family (food, school fees, etc.), shoes & clothes, learning materials (books, stationery, etc.), and healthcare expenses.

Indirect assistance (general support fund) ($3):

For support services, transportation* and emergency funds.

The general support fund allows us to support such things as personal emergency needs of the sponsored children, extending micro-credit for parents (small loans of rice or money), or buying a bicycle for a student who moves on to high school (the nearest high school is 8 kilometers away).

* Phdao Chum Village is a 1.5-hour drive from Phnom Penh where our volunteers are based. The travel fund provides gas and transportation for monthly visits to our sponsored children.
